How to keep a travel journal each evening from the day’s photos
Short answer
Make one card a day. In the evening, open the trip and tap Make today’s card. The day’s photos and places are already suggested. Keep the ones that belong, give the day a title, and tap Add. It takes a few minutes, and the card goes on the trip’s Board.
If you’ve tried Day One or the Notes app on a trip, you know the blank page on day three. A card starts from the day’s photos and stops instead.
Before you go (one minute)
- Allow Photos.
- Optional: allow Location, so Roamwell notices the places you stop. It does this only while the trip is live.
- Optional: turn on Daily reminder and pick Remind me at: First thing, Afternoon, Evening, or Before bed.
During the day: just travel
Take photos the way you always do. Tap Check in at a spot that doesn’t make a good picture. Everything collects on Days.
In the evening: today’s card
- Tap Make today’s card, or the reminder: “Today’s photos and places are ready to look over.”
- Photos. Keep the suggested ones, or tap Show all to pick from the whole day.
- Places. Keep the ones that belong. Tap Edit place to fix a wrong name.
- Give it a Card title and tap Add.
- That’s today’s card: the story you’d tell at dinner. Open it any time to write a few lines.
Took more photos after dinner? The button turns into Add to today’s card.
Missed a night?
Earlier days stay open. On Days, tap Add to board on that day.
What Roamwell does each evening
- The reminder
- Once on each remaining trip day, at the time you pick. Nothing after the trip ends.
- The places
- They come from your photos, your check-ins, and stops Roamwell noticed. Nothing is invented.
- The Board
- Only the days you add become cards. The rest stay on Days.
